Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Basic Usage
Q1. What is GoFlow Pro?
A1. GoFlow Pro is a video management app for Mac that automatically detects and organizes action camera footage from GoPro, DJI, Insta360, and other cameras. It lets you merge split clips and trim videos with professional precision.
Q2. What cameras are supported?
A2. GoFlow Pro supports:
– GoPro: All models (GH/GX file patterns)
– DJI: Action cameras and drones (DJI_ patterns)
– Insta360: 360 and action cameras (VID_ patterns)
– Other cameras: Grouped by time proximity (within 15 seconds)
Q3. What video formats are supported?
A3.
– Input: MP4, MOV, MKV
– Output: MP4 (Free), MP4/MOV/MKV (Pro)
Q4. How does session detection work?
A4. GoFlow Pro analyzes filenames and timestamps to automatically group related clips:
– GoPro files are grouped by chapter numbers (e.g., GH010123, GH020123)
– DJI files are grouped by sequence patterns
– Other files are grouped if recorded within 15 seconds of each other
Getting Started

-
Choose the output location and format
-
Wait for processing to complete
Q7. How do I trim a video?

Q8. Where are merged videos saved?
A8. You choose the save location each time, or set a default export folder in Settings. Merged videos are saved to your specified location with a suggested filename based on the source clips.
Session Detection
Q9. Why are some clips in separate sessions?
A9. This can happen if:
– The clips were recorded with more than 15 seconds between them
– The camera was turned off and on between recordings
– The files come from different cameras
You can still select and merge clips from different sessions manually.
Q10. Can I customize session grouping?
A10. Currently, GoFlow Pro uses automatic detection based on camera patterns and time proximity. Manual session grouping is planned for a future update.
Q11. Why doesn’t GoFlow Pro recognize my camera files?
A11. If your camera uses a unique naming convention, files will be grouped by time proximity instead. Ensure your files have accurate creation timestamps for best results.
Camera Import
Q12. How does camera detection work?
A12. When enabled in Settings, GoFlow Pro monitors for SD cards from supported cameras. When detected, you’ll see a prompt to import the videos.
Q13. Can I auto-eject after import?
A13. Yes! When importing from a camera, you can choose “Import & Eject” to automatically eject the SD card after the import completes.
Q14. What if camera detection doesn’t work?
A14. Try these steps:
-
Ensure “Detect camera connection” is enabled in Settings
-
Make sure the SD card mounts properly in Finder
-
Import manually using the Import Folder option

Troubleshooting
Q20. Merge failed – what should I do?
A20. Common causes and solutions:
– Incompatible codecs: Try merging fewer clips or use clips from the same recording session
– Insufficient disk space: Free up space and try again
– Corrupted file: Try excluding the problematic clip
Q21. Why is merging slow?
A21. GoFlow Pro uses stream copy (no re-encoding) for fast merging. If merging seems slow:
– Check available disk space
– Close other intensive applications
– Ensure the source and destination are on fast storage
Q22. The app crashes when importing large folders
A22. For very large folders (1000+ files):
– Import in smaller batches
– Ensure sufficient RAM is available
– Update to the latest version of GoFlow Pro
Q23. Video quality is different after merging
A23. GoFlow Pro uses stream copy, which preserves original quality. If quality differs:
– Ensure source clips have the same codec and resolution
– Check if the player supports the output format
– Try a different output format (Pro)
Q24. Audio is out of sync after merging
A24. This can happen with variable frame rate videos. Try:
– Using clips from the same continuous recording
– Checking if the original clips have sync issues
Technical
Q25. System requirements?
A25.
– macOS 14.0 (Sonoma) or later
– Apple Silicon or Intel Mac
– Sufficient storage for videos
Q26. How does stream copy work?
A26. Stream copy directly copies the video and audio streams without re-encoding. This means:
– Fast processing: No time-consuming encoding
– No quality loss: Original quality is preserved
– Same codec required: Source clips should have compatible formats
Q27. Can I use GoFlow Pro offline?
A27. Yes! GoFlow Pro works completely offline. Internet is only needed for the initial purchase and restore purchases.
Q28. Does GoFlow Pro upload my videos?
A28. No. All processing happens locally on your Mac. Your videos are never uploaded to any server.
Q29. What is FFmpeg?
A29. FFmpeg is an open-source multimedia framework used for video processing. GoFlow Pro includes FFmpeg to handle video merging and trimming. It runs locally and doesn’t transmit any data.
Editor Mode
Q30. What can I do in Editor mode?
A30. Editor mode lets you:
– Trim videos with precise in/out points
– Add multiple cut points (Pro)
– Preview your edits in real-time
– Export trimmed segments
Q31. How do I add cut points?
A31.
-
Switch to Editor mode
-
Open a video
-
Navigate to the desired position
-
Click “Add Cut” (Pro feature)
-

Q32. Can I undo edits?
